    Earthrise is a very famous photo of a teeny tiny planet earth, floating in vast, dark outer space, taken by astronauts as Apollo 8, orbited the Moon. Watch a short video here.
    Imagine what it was like to see Earth our island home from so very, very far away. What a marvelous sight! Can seeing our blue planet this way inspire us and call to us to love and care for God’s wondrous creation? Let’s find out as we see Earth from afar and serve Earth up close.

  4. PWRDF HURON invitation to an on-line opportunity to stoke spring enthusiasm for the ministry we share.  PWRDF Executive Director, Will Postma,  will join us on line on Wednesday, May 24 from 7-8 P.M.

    After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
    This will be an opportunity to hear an update directly about the work of our partners, particularly with regards to Ukraine, Indigenous partnerships and Climate Care projects. Please take advantage of this opportunity to listen and ask questions to support the engagement of our parishes in this vital work of healing in our world.
    Please also note that PWRDF Huron will be returning in physical presence to Synod this May through the opening service and a PR Table in the lobby.  Do come and say hello.

  5. The Huron Farmworkers Ministry NEEDS YOUR HELP!
    Last year (2022) we received an amazing support from all our Huron Community and were able to collect over a hundred bags with clothes which were in an amazing condition. We also received a variety of other contributions such as bicycles, toiletries, kitchen utensils, bedding, food and many more.
    This year (2023) we continue to assist our Farmworkers providing the equal services as last year and we are planning in expanding our services to two different locations, Tillsonburg and Burford. We are seeking donations of men’s clothing such as pants, sweaters, hoodies, t-Shirts, warm jackets, shoes, gloves, baseball caps, team shirts, toques, Bicycle. Preferred sizes are small to large in clean, ready to wear condition.

  7. The Essex Deanery Lay Leadership Training Classes:  Lay leadership courses for 2023
    ◦  June 17 – History with Rev. Canon Dr. Gordon Maitland
    .  October 21 and November 18 - How to write a sermon (4 pages of the Sermon plus other resources) 
    These classes will be held in person at Canterbury College.  We have partnered with Canterbury College for the Lay Readers courses and they are providing us with the technology support to also bring the classes by zoom.  Please join us for one or for all of the classes.  Please contact Rev.   8. Upcoming Courses in Huron LTh:
    On Tuesday June 6, we are hosting a new course: In the Midst of Life, We Are In Death: Christian Rites Around Sickness, Death and Dying with The Rev. Fr. Matt Koovisk. 
    This course is ideal of lay leaders, deacons and postulants for priestly ministry who are looking to better understand the liturgical tools regarding sickness and death within the Anglican tradition. SEE THE POSTER

  9. Cursillo Weekend, Friday evening July 21 to Sunday afternoon July 23 at Five Oaks Retreat Centre, Paris, ON.

  8. St. John the Divine is hosting a Hymn Sing fundraiser for our NEW Choral Scholarship on SundayJune 25 at 1:00 pm in the church. It is called "A June Event: Go in Peace." As the summer begins and families head off to make memories, we would like to invite people to join us in our hymn sing fundraiser. Old favourite hymns and new ones will be sung in St. John the Divine's historic parish sanctuary. We ask a $10 suggested donation per person at the door to support our new choral scholarship for high school and postsecondary students. The organist is our music director Patti Kemp.
